Routines, Routine Planner and Checklist

A good home routine after having a heart attack is beneficial for recovery. When we feel our most vulnerable is when we need calm and order, and routines bring both.

Having daily routines is not only beneficial for our productivity, but they can also influence our quality of rest too. Good quality sleep and rest is essential for recovery of the body and the mind.

A good morning and evening routine builds habits which can aid our sleeping patterns. For example: having a set bedtime and a set wake up time.

Our morning routine is vital for our health and well-being. Morning routines have been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, improve concentration and focus and boost energy levels.

For our health, it’s important to have a healthy breakfast (see Vitalis Menus and Meal Planner), to take our prescribed medication and to drink water.

Staying hydrated is important as dehydration affects heart health. It causes the heart to work harder so it pumps faster which increases the heart rate, this places strain on the heart.

The importance of following a daily routine not only benefits the body, but it also benefits the mind. Surviving a heart attack can leave us feeling weak and vulnerable, so managing schedules through our routines can help us feel stronger in taking control of our own health and well-being

Checklist

A daily checklist should include all the essential tasks we need to fulfil every day. From taking medication to attending medical appointments, the checklist ensures we manage all that is essential.

Family members can help with the checklist to ensure nothing is forgotten.
